Salute to Scouts Weekend is a special event at the Kennedy Space Center. Scouts attend a space flight briefing, meet an Astronaut and participate in a variety of teamwork and space exploration activities to earn a commemorative Kennedy Space Center patch.

The two-day full-access ticket includes special activities and lunch on Saturday, and Maximum Access to KSC Visitor Complex throughout the weekend, including the new 3D IMAX movie Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon, and all shows and exhibits.

The Salute to Scouts program includes a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame where the scouts will learn more about NASA’s Astronaut heroes, participate in a scavenger hunt and experience the thrill of motion-based space simulators.

Ticket price is $33.39 (includes tax) per person, 3 and under is free.

We must check-in to Kennedy Space Center by 9:30 am on Saturday to take part in the activities which run until 5:00 pm and include lunch.

All families should arrange for their transportation. We will meet at the Church at 6:45 am and distribute the tickets and drive down together. We will also arrange a place to meet at the KSC gate (by 9:00 am) if you don’t come to the Church so that we can participate in the Saturday activities as a Pack. For anyone who wants to stay and go to the park the next day on Sunday (since this is included in the price of the ticket), families should make their own arrangements to either stay overnight or drive home and then drive back the next day. Deadline to order tickets is January 22, 2007.

Tuesday, January 16th, at 7 pm is our next Pack meeting. This is an important meeting because we will have the Pinewood Derby car kits available for you to purchase for $4.00, and we’ll have information for you about how to build the cars to get them ready for the big race!

The Pinewood Derby Race dates are:

– February 2nd, Friday, 7 pm in the Annex – bring you car to weigh it in. If the car weighs in at 5 ounces or lower, then you won’t be there long. If the car is more than 5 ounces you will have to stay to adjust it. Also you may want to adjust it to get it up to 5 ounces.

- February 3rd, Saturday, from 2 pm – 5 pm is the Pinewood Derby Race. Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 winners in each rank: Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos.

February 10th is the day trip to Kennedy Space Center. Tickets are $33.39 per person, 3 and under is free. The is a special Scout Day at the KSC. We will participate in special planned activities as a Pack, meet an Astronaut, build things, ride in a space simulator, and earn a special Kennedy Space Center patch.

February 18th is the field trip to Peter and the Wolf. Tickets are $7 per person.

We will be collecting money for the cars and for the tickets at the Pack meeting or you can pay online using the PayPal button on the main page of the website.

We will be sleeping on board the USS Yorktown. We will also be taking several tours whie we are there. This is a extremely fun trip and well worth the money and time. The cost of the trip is $ 75.00. The money is due by November 20, 2006 as we haft to have the payment to them 60 days before the trip. You can turn your money in at your den meetings or at the pack meeting.

We are kicking off our annual popcorn sale Sunday September 24th. We will be selling popcorn at the Gate station at San Jose Blvd. & Sunbeam Rd. Starting at 9:00am. If you have not signed up for a time slot yet please do so by contacting Ms. Cheryl at 260-9959 as soon as possible.

We will also be selling on Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st.

We really need every cub scout and parent to get behind this popcorn sale 100%!! There are many things we would like to offer your scouts but it takes money. This is a very eay way to raise the funds with minimal effort.

I hope everyone has had a great summer. It is time to start back with our monthly pack meetings and kick off another year in cub scouts. i hope everyone is as excited about the upcoming year as I am.

Our first Pack meeting will be August 15th at 7:00pm at the church. NOTE THE NEW TIME. The pack meeting will last until 8:30. We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year so make sure you make plans to attend the pack meeting so you are not left out. We are looking for 100% attendance.

If your son had a birthday in June, July, or in August please email me and let me know so I can recognize them at the pack meeting.

Remember everyone we only get out of the scout program what we put in. So lets put 100% into our pack this year and make it the best ever.

The next committee meeting will be Sunday August 13th at 7:00pm in the annex. Please try to attend. If you are a Leader we really need you there.
